Internet World 2008
April 29th to May 1st saw the pilgrimage of marketing directors, sales directors and other technology people to the ‘Mecca’ of Earls Court 2 for the annual Internet World expo, organised by CMP Information Ltd. With more pre-registered visitors, more stands, more speakers offering more targeted talks, the latest technology expo certainly made its mark on the industry. Judith Lewis, social optimization practitioner tells us more about the event.
For the last year, Internet World combined with the International Direct Marketing Show bringing to over 14,000 pre-registered people the best that the world of marketing had to offer. From direct marketing through email to social media, Internet world worked to be all things to all marketers.
With over five differently themed speaking areas, dozens of speakers – more than previous years – spoke about ways to improve business communications, marketing, websites and more. This year more and more of the talks added value without being too much of a sales pitch with one even offering free beer.
One of the most interesting stalls at the show was Fox Williams LLP who are focusing on helping to provide reasonably priced legal services to an underserviced market. With small to medium sized businesses in attendance along with enterprise businesses, Fox Williams really stood out among the media, ecommerce and other solutions providers.
Internet World is moving to Olympia for 2009 with International Direct Marketing Show remaining at Earls Court and adding ecommerce to its focus. Next on the conference circuit for marketers is the Online Marketing and Media Show at the Business Design Centre.
